Beautiful Tri Girl Available

This is Staci.  She is sired by GCH Mistybrook Panda Crossing and her dam is CH Lacewood Cassiopeia.  She is such a little character.  She is so smart and figures things out faster than anyone.  She is responsive to her people and loves to please.  She just wants to be a part of everything.  I think she would make such a great little dog for someone.  I wish I had more room to keep her, but I need to let her go.  I would love most to find her a home where someone wants to start a sheltie program.  Maybe a Junior or someone that has been trying to find a nice girl to start a program with.  She has such a nice pedigree and so many virtues.  She is 5 months old now and is so ready to give her heart to someone.  I would consider a great performance home or even the perfect companion home.  I just want her to have a perfect home.  She is the kind of puppy that you could dress in clothes and push her in a stroller (not that I would EVER do that), but she would love anything as long as she is getting attention.  If anyone reading this feels like they would like to know more about her feel free to contact me at lacewoodshelties@comcast.net.

We Have Puppies!

I have pretty much ignored my blog since I started to post of Facebook.  I decided I really should start again to write on my blog.  I've been feeling a bit guilty.

We had puppies on 9-10-11.  These guys are out of my "Jamie"  Lacewood Jamaican Moonrise and are sired by "Kyle"  Ch. Aynsworth Dreams Do Come True.  They were born by c-section at about 10 PM on Saturday Sept 10th.  It was a very stressful time.  Jamie dropped her Temperature Friday morning and had a very uncomfortable night Friday night.  She didn't actually have hard contractions until about 2 PM on Saturday.  It took an hour of contractions and she ruptured her membranes about 3 PM.  She continued contractions until 5 PM when she ruptured more membranes.  Then she pretty much didn't have that many contractions.  She would have a couple of contractions and then nothing.  By about 8 PM I was concerned that her contractions were not often enough or hard enough to deliver her babies.  I talked to my vet and we agreed to give her until 9 PM and if she wasn't having more labor by then I would meet him at his office and he would check her.  I had already done an internal exam and could not feel babies at all.  So we got to his office by 9 PM he was a little later, maybe 9:15.  He checked her and could not feel a puppy either.  We decided to take them c-section.  He handed the first puppy to me and it was floppy and not breathing.  I could hear a heartbeat on her, but I wasn't getting much response.  He handed the second puppy to my husband and he was doing pretty good.  He handed puppy number 3 to me and I was working on the two girls.  The blue girl (born last) was doing alright, but I was still not getting much response from the black girl.  I listened to her heart again and her heart rate was about 20 by now.  She was taking a gasping breath now and again, but no tone and not much sign of life.  My vet stopped working on Jamie and brought a shot of adrenalin and placed that in her cord.  It was like a miracle.  She was breathing and crying within 2 minutes of receiving that shot and has been just as healthy as the other puppies since that moment.  I don't think she would have survived without that shot.
She is really very cute and I am so glad that she survived.  She is thriving and healthy.  It is pretty miraculous to see how fast she was alive with good tone and vital signs.  I think that there were two puppies, one in each horn trying to come at the same time and neither one could make it into the birth canal.  I'm grateful that we have modern medicine and that the puppies and their dam are both healthy and happy.
Jamie is being a great mom.  It took her a little while to figure out that she loved these little aliens that she woke up with, but after about 12 hours she loved them and she has only gotten better with time.
This is the blue girl, born last

 This is the black boy.

Aedh Wishes for the Clothes of Heaven

Aedh Wishes for the Clothes of Heaven
Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
-- William Buttler Yeats

I just wanted to share one of my very favorite poems!!!

Hopefully Puppies!!

I am so excited to get Luci , BISS CH. Lacewood Bi Starlight back. She comes home on Wednesday this coming week after spending a week with her beau Chase, BISS CH Sea Haven Chasing Moonbeams, ROM. Hopefully there will be puppies in our near future. It has been really hard to not have Luci around, but I just can't wait for the litter to come if we're lucky enough to have one. Luci's only other litter she was also bred to Chase and I couldn't be more pleased with the result so far. Hopefully we can do as well this time!!

I also sent Cassie to California to be bred which will also be an AOAC litter. So we are hopefully expecting Puppies in a couple of months. It seems kind of lonely around here right now without the girls. It is amazing to me how attached I am to the dogs and how much I miss them when they are gone. I will try to keep everyone posted when we get puppies!!!

Happy Birthday Mama

Today is my Mother's birthday. She would be turning 96 today if she were still alive. My Mama died when I was 19 years old. The picture of her above was taken shortly before she died. The other picture, of course, was taken when she was much younger. She has been gone from my life now longer than she was a part of it. It is amazing just how much of an influence your mother is on you, isn't it. It has been so long since I have seen her, it would be so nice just to spend an afternoon talking to her. Sometimes I have dreams of her. I usually dream that she comes to me and we just talk. When I wake up I feel like I have had such a nice visit with her. It has been a long time since I had one of those dreams.
My Mom had a lot of problems in her life. She fell into a lifestyle that was not good for her or for her family. She caused herself and her family a lot of angst, but she was a very giving very talented woman. She taught me a lot in my short 19 years with her. She was a fabulous cook and would give anyone the shirt off of her back if she thought you needed it more than she did. I guess it is good to have days of rememberance. I have spent the day just missing my Mom.
So Happy Birthday Mama. I love you!

Updated photos of the puppies

On Saturday I got to go to a local UKC show. I have never been to a UKC show before so it was fun to see how it all went. I really enjoyed it. I didn't show any dogs, but I took my 3 puppies to socialize them and Shannalee helped me take pictures. It was fun to go and who knows maybe I'll play in UKC someday. I'm excited to have some new pictures to share with everyone. Here are the pictures that we got of "Kari" Mistybrook Curvaceous. Kari is by Ch. Macdega Notorious X Ch. Imagine Dangerous Curves. She is now 7 months old.

The next pictures are of "Jamie" Lacewood Jamaican Moonrise. She is now 4 months old and such a pistol. She is a funny little puppy, but we are enjoying her and her sister Traci. She was being a little pill about the pictures so there are only a couple of her.
Here is Miss "Traci" Lacewood Traces of Moonlight. She and Jamie are sired by BISS CH. Sea Haven Chasing Moonbeams,ROM X BISS CH. Lacewood Bi Starlight. They are 4 months old and so full of themselves. I hope you enjoy the photos of these babies!!

Thank you Shannalee for helping me get this beautiful photos. It is so much easier to do when you have help and when you have someone as talented as Shannalee helping you it is really nice!!

Thanks to everyone for letting me share my puppies!!

Happy Birthday To Me !

My birthday was at the beginning of the week and I had the BEST birthday that I remember having in a long time. All of the kids came home to be with me except my one and only daughter who lives in Paris France and I got a nice e-card from her. It was so much fun to have everyone home and to just feel their love for me. Sometimes as the children were young it was hard to tell if they loved me or not, but I am finding as they grow that it becomes more evident that maybe I didn't completely fail at motherhood My husband and boys fixed a very yummy dinner for me of grilled fillets and salad and home made, from scratch, cheese cake. MMMMMMM- It was the perfect day. I have, in the past, been less than enthusiastic about my birthday but this one was the BEST. If they read my blog I want them all to know how much it meant to me to have them come and just "hang out" with me all day. The picture was taken a couple of years ago when everyone was home. I thought all of you out there in Blogger land would enjoy seeing the whole family. And yes, all of those kids are mine!!! I gave birth to each of them. The two old people in the picture are my husband and myself Even Chiku, the parrot, learned to say and SING happy birthday for me.

The puppies are really growing up. They are starting to loose that fluffy puppy look. Their personalities are developing as well. Traci is a little cuddle bug and Jamie is much more independent. I have had so much fun with these two. They can be very naughty, what one doesn't think of the other one does, but they have been a riot to have around. I am enjoying watching them grow and excited for their emergence, kind of like watching a butterfly emerge from its cocoon. I think they will be very lovely when they are grown.
