Happy Birthday To Me !

My birthday was at the beginning of the week and I had the BEST birthday that I remember having in a long time. All of the kids came home to be with me except my one and only daughter who lives in Paris France and I got a nice e-card from her. It was so much fun to have everyone home and to just feel their love for me. Sometimes as the children were young it was hard to tell if they loved me or not, but I am finding as they grow that it becomes more evident that maybe I didn't completely fail at motherhood My husband and boys fixed a very yummy dinner for me of grilled fillets and salad and home made, from scratch, cheese cake. MMMMMMM- It was the perfect day. I have, in the past, been less than enthusiastic about my birthday but this one was the BEST. If they read my blog I want them all to know how much it meant to me to have them come and just "hang out" with me all day. The picture was taken a couple of years ago when everyone was home. I thought all of you out there in Blogger land would enjoy seeing the whole family. And yes, all of those kids are mine!!! I gave birth to each of them. The two old people in the picture are my husband and myself Even Chiku, the parrot, learned to say and SING happy birthday for me.

The puppies are really growing up. They are starting to loose that fluffy puppy look. Their personalities are developing as well. Traci is a little cuddle bug and Jamie is much more independent. I have had so much fun with these two. They can be very naughty, what one doesn't think of the other one does, but they have been a riot to have around. I am enjoying watching them grow and excited for their emergence, kind of like watching a butterfly emerge from its cocoon. I think they will be very lovely when they are grown.

I've been tagged

I have been tagged by Cool Design Shelties. I'm not sure how this works, but this is the picture that is the 5th picture in the 5th folder. I think that is what I am suppose to describe. This is Annie, "Roydon Crystal Ice" with my son Braden. She is the foundation bitch my lines. She is the Dam to Draco, Ch. Lacewood The Star Maker. We lost this absolutely stunning girl while she was giving birth to her first and only litter. She had to have a c-section and she aspirated during the c-section. She actually died before the c-section and was kept alive with CPR until we could get her heart going again. We didn't hold out much hope for the puppies she was carrying as we had to re-prep her for surgery, so it was some time after her cardiac arrest until the puppies were born. She gave birth to 3 puppies. Draco was the first born, he was floppy with no signs of life, but we were able to resuscitate him with a lot of work. The second puppy was a bi black girl that was in a little better shape. The last puppy was Gandy, Lacewood Ghost Star who is a double merle. He was also floppy with no signs of life. We were able to resuscitate all three puppies. Sadly Annie woke after surgery, but died early the next morning. She was never able to nurse or see her babies. To say I was broken hearted is an understatement. I actually cried for a solid month. But sweet little Annie's legacy lives on. She is the Dam of Draco and the Granddam of Luci, BISS CH. Lacewood Bi Starlight, and now the great grand dam of the the puppies sired sired by BISS CH. Sea Haven Chasing Moonbeams. There were 4 puppies in that litter that are yummy and look very promising. So Annie, in her short 2 years, left a wonderful legacy of beautiful babies. I will hold Annie close to my heart forever. I loved her dearly for the short time that she was with me. I hand raised all three of her babies with as much love as I know she would have raised them. All three of her babies grew to adulthood against all odds.
I still love you my sweet Annie. I hope you are pleased with your descendants!!!
So now I guess I am suppose to tag 5 of my friends. I will tag Shannalee at Akadia, Windsor, Kathy at Istari, Gail, and Dixie at Dae Dream. I hope you will all play too.

Puppy Training

The picture above is of "Kari" Mistybrook Curvaceous. She is affectionately called Kari Bear!! She is sired by Ch. Macdega Notorious X Ch. Imagine Dangerous Curves. She is 6 months old now and growing up so nicely. We are so excited about this puppy!!! She has a beautiful head with a lean skull and wonderful planes. She is nicely angulated both front and rear. I can't wait to get her out in the ring. She is also such a sweet puppy and tries so hard to be good. Just a very well behaved sweet puppy. I am so grateful to Jan Williams for parting with her and allowing me to have her. She makes me smile every day.

Now the title of this post is Puppy training so I have to share my cute story with you. Every day we do bait training with the puppies. They all line up to get their cookie and have to be standing just right with all four feet on the floor and watching the cookie. For this exercise we use the word "watch". They are pretty good to remember that they have to stand still and watch until they get their cookie. My husband does this a lot with the puppies as he enjoys giving them cookies. Well, now when the puppies come in and he gets the cookies out the parrot, Chiku, says "Watch". She is really good about remembering to give them the command each and every time they get their cookie. Sometimes we forget the command but Chiku remembers it every time!!! Now if I could only get Chiku to leash break them!!! (you can meet Chiku in an earlier post below!!)

Meet Emily

This is Emily, Akadia Poetry Bi Moonlight. She is the sister to Silly and Deakon that Shannalee posted pitures of the other day on her blog. http://www.akadiashelties.blogspot.com/ Emily is 11 months old and is by the very beautiful Ch. Aynsworth Silver Moonlight, ROM X Ch. Akadia Totally Intoxicating. Emily is a cute little character. She loves to bark and will tell all of the kids off in my house. Mostly she barks when she sees someone that she can't get to. She will chase and bark at them. She is a very funny little dog, but we love her dearly. Today was her bath and grooming day so we decided to take a picture and introduce you to her. She will be ready to show soon. I love her outline and nice lean skull. She will do anything for her cookie and should be fun to show. I'm so glad Shannalee was willing to part with her so that I can have her here. Enjoy the picture.

This is Traci. She is quite the puppy. She is very opinionated and wants her way. Yesterday my husband was holding her. She wanted to get down, but he told her no that she would have to let him hold her. She was wiggly and a little growly about having to be held, but she finally settled down and let him hold her and pet her. She wasn't happy but she allowed it. He finally put her down and walked into the closet. Traci followed behind him and when she got his attention and made eye contact she growled at him and then turned and walked away. I told my husband "I guess you just got told off". She is so funny. At 12 weeks old she has life figured out and she is running the show!!! (well at least she thinks she is running the show). She is cute as a bug's ear and everyone that comes here wants to pick her up and hug her. She is not so sure she should have to tolerate all that love. She would much rather be pulling on your pant leg or chewing your shoe laces. You'd never think such a fireball could live in this little package would you?

This is "Cassie", Lacewood Cassiopeia. I just took her out and bathed her up. She is on her way to the shows in Portland OR. I always think of Cassie as just a dog until I get her out and bath her up and groom her and then she blossoms into this beautiful girl. She is sired by Shadow Hills Polaris, the beautiful double Merle that Jane Hammett owns. She is a darling little dog. She is about 14 1/2 inches and is so full of fun and joy. She has 2 points in very limited showing and several reserves. Here's hoping cute little Cassie can add to her point total. This photo of her was taken last summer by Shannalee.

A Very Happy New Year To Everyone!!

It has been a little busy since Christmas at our house, but we have had a good time. We have had visits by the kids and friends and just enjoyed a little slower pace.
The puppies will turn 12 weeks old on Saturday and I was able to get a couple of pictures of them today. I thought I'd share these pictures with everyone.

This is Jamie -- Lacewood Jamaican Moonrise. She was the most shy puppy in the litter, but since her very out-going sister left to live with the Calderwoods, Jamie has decided to take her place. She has become so much more outgoing. She loves to run and play and give kisses.

This is Traci -- Lacewood Bi Moonlight. She is so cute but oh so opinionated. She tells you off if things don't go her way. She is all kisses and tail wags as long as she is getting her way. She does not like any other puppy to touch her. She is such a hoot. She will be a fiesty girl. I thought her mother was opinionated, but I think little Traci is planning to run the show around here.

These babies are by the remarkable BISS CH Sea Haven Chasing Moonbeams, ROM, CC, AOM
out of BISS CH. Lacewood Bi Starlight. Such a fun litter, I have so enjoyed watching them grow up. I can't wait to see how they grow up. Their brother is with Shannalee Michalsky of Akadia Shelties and their sister is with David and Sylvia Calderwood of Kensil Shelties.
I hope all of you have a very Blessed New Year!!
